Framework 15 of 15 · Short Squeeze Probability

Short Squeeze Probability

Most "squeeze" tickers are just stocks people hate. That is not a setup.

Written by Jim Norris · NorrisAI AlphaLens · Updated September 2026

Framework 15 checks the boring numbers behind squeeze talk: short interest vs float, days to cover, borrow cost, and whether anything in the thesis would actually force covering. High short interest means a lot of people are bearish. It does not mean they are about to be squeezed.

This is optional after you can explain the business and write an invalidator — How to Research a Stock, checklist, Framework 05. It is not a reason to buy a name you cannot describe.

When to run it

Do not run Framework 15 first. A squeeze overlay on a slogan is how people buy other people's bag.

What the write-up is supposed to contain

A Framework 15 output should force:

If the output is a probability like "72% squeeze," the run failed. We do not have that crystal ball.

What this framework cannot do

Walkthrough: AMZN as a first 15

NASDAQ: AMZN

Notes a first pass should produce

Still open: tonight's exact SI % and days to cover, from a current short-interest print. Do not invent them.

Handwritten version: How to Analyze a Stock.

Full published run: AMZN analysis.

Do it yourself, then run 15

Before a credit:

  1. Look up short interest % of float and average volume. Do the days-to-cover arithmetic.
  2. Ask whether a known event (Framework 09) would force covering, or just make the chart red or green.
  3. If SI is ordinary for the name, write "not a setup" and stop.
  4. Cover the ticker. If the pitch still needs the word "squeeze" to work, you do not have a thesis.

Then run Framework 15.

Common questions

Short interest is 20%. Is it going to squeeze?

Unknown. 20% means a crowd is short. Covering needs a reason and a float that cannot absorb it. Most of the time it just stays hated.

Should I buy because the squeeze score is high?

No. If you cannot write 05 without the word squeeze, do not buy it.

What do I run next?

Framework 05 or 06. Stop after that.

Run Short Squeeze Probability

Same demand: is this actually a setup, or a hated stock with a thread. This is the optional faster pass — not a substitute for "usually it isn't."
